Facts about me on my ✨anniversary✨

Writer's picture: L. C. Alexis Cruz RubioL. C. Alexis Cruz Rubio

Today is my ✨anniversary✨, because you know I don't have birthdays, daaaaahlings!💅🏻

Ever since I turned 21 I vowed that I would stay 21. Eternally 21. Mariah Carey says she's eternally 12, but I mean.... when a guy at the club tryna get with you, he don't wanna hear you're eternally 12. That's why I went for eternally 21.

However, I do share Mimi's vision for saying she's eternally 12. Girl, I too went through a lot during my teenage years. 12 was an ok year for me. 12 was a "before" and "after" year for me.

You see, 21 is a sexy number. It's that age when you're attractive to younger people, people your age, and people a little older than yourself. Nobody needs to know my real age, unless it's the government asking👀

If you wanna know my age, just consider I was born in 2000. I'm not publishing the actual number for you guys, do the math. I'm not giving it up that easy, sister!

Anyways, today, we celebrate the second ✨anniversary✨ of my eternally 21 lifestyle, and instead of boring you with my hopes and dreams for the coming lap around the Sun (I don't want to say year, because I don't acknowledge time, daaaaaaahlings!💅🏻), I thought I would share some lesser known facts about me on this joyous occasion.

So, without further ado, here's a list of facts about me on my ✨anniversary✨

1. I share an ✨anniversary✨ with some very illustrious historical figures

On this day in 1725, Maria Teresa Cybo-Malaspina was born. She was Duchess of Massa and Carrara in her own right (talk about a BOSS LADY💅🏻), from the age of 6 until her death in 1790. She was married twice. First, to Prince Eugene of Savoy, who died thirteen days after their marriage, and secondly to Ercole III d'Este, Duke of Modena and Reggio. Maria Teresa and Duke Ercole had only one living child, a daughter: Maria Beatrice, who became Duchess of Massa and Carrara in her own right upon her mother's death. Through Maria Beatrice, Maria Teresa Cybo-Malaspina, is the ancestress of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine-Este (or Austria-Este), that ruled Modena following her husband's death in 1796.

On 29th June 1844, Peter Karageorgevitch was born in Belgrade. He was the fifth son of Alexander Karageorgevitch, Prince of Serbia. He became King of Serbia in 1903, following the deposition and assassination of King Alexander Obrenovic (the previous monarch of Serbia). Married to Princess Zorka, the daughter of Montenegrin King Nicholas I and sister of Queen Elena of Italy, in 1883, they had five children, of which only three survived to adulthood: Elena Petrovna, Princess Ioann Constantinovich of Russia; George, Crown Prince of Serbia, and Alexander I of Yugoslavia (Serbia's successor state). King Peter died in 1921 and was succeeded by his younger son, Alexander, who was married to Queen-Empress Victoria's great granddaughter, Maria of Romania.

Another June 29 baby was born in 1911, Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld. He was the son of Prince Bernhard of Lippe and Armgard von Cramm, Countess of Biesterfeld. In 1937, he married Princess Juliana of the Netherlands, the only child of Queen Wilhelmina and Duke Henry of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and had four daughters, the eldest being the former Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Prince Bernhard became Prince consort of the Netherlands on the accession of his wife in 1948, and remained as such until her abdication in 1980. He died in 2004 of lung cancer, nine months after the death of his wife, the former Queen Juliana.

2. My zodiac sign is Cancer

I was born under the astrological sign of Cancer, Leo rising. I'm as sentimental and whiny as any Cancer, but I also have a bit of an ego problem, like all Leos😳

Other notable Cancers in the world of celebrity and royalty include the late Diana, Princess of Wales, The Queen (that is, Camilla, get used to it...), Prince George of Wales, Meryl Streep, two of the famous Toms (Cruise and Hanks), and activist Malala Yousafzai.

I can't believe that MIRANDA F**KING PRIESTLY, DONNA SHERIDAN and I share the same zodiac sign???????? That's why we're so iconic.

3. I've always preferred listening to female singers

I guess I feel women have better vocal range and abilities than most male singers. But I do find it quite interesting that I seem to enjoy more songs sung by women than by men. After all, men are trash🤷🏻‍♂️

Mariah Carey at the 2006 Grammy Awards took me to Church and back again! LAWD! PREACH!

My favourite singers of all time include Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Cher, Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross. I may add that some newer voices are also in my roster, but I will always have a special place in my heart for the divas. We love us some pop divas.

Could a man ever EAT UP AND SPIT OUT this masterpiece at the Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen Elizabeth II? I THINK NOT!

4. My guilty pleasure is staying home and doing nothing

Nothing beats staying in on a Sunday, wearing sweats, thawing some ready-made food from Costco and heating it up in the microwave, pouring one's self a nice tall glass of Coke with tons of ice and throwing myself on the bed to do nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I like going out to places, eating good food, having nice drinks, dressing up and sh*t, but it is sometimes quite imposing on one. I work a lot, so I'm always naturally tired. Even Queens like to sit back and relax.

5. I have some extravagant tastes, I don't know how I am not bankrupt😂

They say Princess Margaret, the sister of the late Queen, was extravagant. Honey, move over💅🏻

Princess Margaret was known to have a very decadent morning routine, something I aspire to. I dream of vodka pick-me-ups at noon and enjoying every meal with a glass of wine or champagne. Sadly, God did not place me at the heart of the British monarchy in order for me to enjoy the finest pleasures in life🤷🏻‍♂️

Here's to the Ladies who BRUNCH💅🏻

I compensate the fact of not being Princess Margaret by treating myself. I always get myself an anniversary present and a Christmas present. Whenever I reach an important milestone in life, I also give myself a nice present. Apple products are a go-to for my self-gifting. High street clothing is also a favourite (brands like H&M, Forever 21 and Zara are a must in my closet). Bags have also become a staple of my fashion (thanks to my babies Ale and Emi), as have meals and drinks at not-so-cheap places. And don't get me started on overpriced coffee????? I seem to manage my finances quite well, as I am not broke (yet).

Oh, how I loved buying overpriced coffee whenever I went to the office🥹

Joke aside, I do manage my finances quite well. I have two savings account and a secret cash stash somewhere👀

6. I didn't even want to be an accountant at the beginning

But y'all already knew that...

It's true. I wasn't even going to be an accountant when I started uni, I was going to major in International Business, but life had other plans... Turns out that to become an International Business major you need to take two pre-requisite accounting classes. I had to learn the basics. The professors who lectured me on the double entry method and financial statement preparation made me fall in love with the craft, and I switched majors. I will never regret that. Best decision of my life.

Every profession is useful, as all professions are born out of the need to solve problems for society, but with hindsight, I know I wouldn't have been as useful to society as I am presently as an accountant. I take great pride in being an accountant, it is one of the greatest achievements of my life.

7. The "Revenge dress" and I share an ✨anniversary✨

On 29th June 1994, Diana, Princess of Wales attended a reception at the Serpentine Gallery in London on the evening her estranged husband, now King Charles III, admitted adultery with Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles (now The Queen), during a televised interview conducted by Richard Dimbleby.

29 June 1994: Diana, Princess of Wales, wearing the now-famed "Revenge Dress" (designed by Christina Stambolian), on the night her husband admitted infidelity on a televised interview.

The choice of outfit for the late Princess was quite deliberate. She knew about the interview, and she also knew that all eyes would be on her on that June evening. She chose a design by Christina Stambolian to wow at the reception that evening.

Diana had owned the "revenge dress" (as it is now known) since at least 1991, but thought it too scandalous and daring to wear out in public on official business. But that June evening she said "f**k you" to her husband by wearing the most extravagantly sexy piece ever worn by a member of the British Royal Family.

Sharing an ✨anniversary✨ with the revenge dress makes me feel even more connected to my fellow Cancer sister, Diana, Princess of Wales.

8. I could spit some rhymes at around age 15

We all remember those female rappers from the mid 2010's right? Iggy and Nicky were my jam back then...

I used to be able to recite word by word the lyrics to "Fancy", "Work" and the rap part of Ariana Grande's "Problem", by Iggy Azalea, as well as some more indecent lyrical content by Onika Maraj (Nicki Minaj), such as "Anaconda", "Feelin' Myself", and the rap portions of Ariana Grande-Nicki-Jessie J collab "Bang Bang", "Monster" (that famed Kanye West song) and Beyoncé's "Flawless***".

Although no recordings survive of my original rap era, I recently reprised my rapping skills at the club a few weeks ago. But since I'm a very decorous person when on my business profile, you'll have to find my private insta to take a look at the footage🙈

9. I have a thing for period dramas

We love ourselves some good old Bridgerton. But what we love the most are the amazingly good looking actors they cast. Ladies, here's a treat from me to you: Lord Bridgerton (portrayed by openly gay actor Jonathan Bailey). Please take a moment and soak up his exceedingly good looks😍

Jonathan Bailey as Viscount Bridgerton in Shonda Rhimes's "Bridgerton" (2020-)

Since I became a sort of expert on the British Royal Family, I have taken a liking to period dramas, particularly those set in Britain. The Crown, a work of fiction based on the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II, is a favourite. I binge The Crown on the release date, I clear my calendar on that day just to watch it. Bridgerton also became a favourite: as you may tell, I have become infatuated by the men of the Bridgerton universe, The Duke of Hastings? A tall drink of water. Viscount Bridgerton? I would gladly be his Viscountess!😍

Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Queen of the United Kingdom and Hanover (1744-1818), who became subject of Shonda Rhimes' "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story", a highly fictionalised account of her early tenure as Queen.

More recently, I have binged on Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and fell in love with Cory Mylchreest, who plays King George III in this highly-fictionalised account of the early years of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz's marriage to "Mad King George". I am now craving a Bridgerton prequel on Lady Danbury, she seems to have had some fun back in the day👀

Ladies, here's another treat: King George III from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

10. The physician that delivered me was named after an American President🇺🇸

I came into this world on 29th June 2000 at 10:12 pm at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Mission Gorge, in San Diego, California.

My mother knew I was destined for greatness from the moment she discovered she was pregnant with me. Little did she know that I would be delivered by the namesake of a beloved American President. And no, I wasn't delivered by a Dr. Barack Hussein Obama😂

Ah, we love Obama, that nice chocolate man!😍

The physician who headed the medical team that assisted my mother in the arduous task of bringing into the world one of the greatest human beings to have ever graced the Earth with their presence (after Queen Elizabeth II; Diana, Princess of Wales, Winston Churchill, and other inspiring personages), was Dr. John Kennedy. No relation to the political Kennedys or the Kennedys of Cassilis (the Scottish noble clan), he was an average Joe. No, sorry, an average John🙈

I don't know anything about Dr. John Kennedy, except that his name appears on my birth certificate. I do know, from my mother, that when my father complained at my mother's lack of effort in my delivery, Dr. Kennedy told him that if he didn't shut his trap, he would be escorted out of the room😂

Dr. Kennedy is quick to check a b*tch when she is out of line. I got my b*tch checking skills from him, even though we're not related😂

Well. There you have it. A list of interesting facts about me on my ✨anniversary✨ Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this post and to call or text me to congratulate me on such a joyous occasion🥰
