The Butterfly Returns: Back to blogging🦋

I've titled this post as an homage to Mariah Carey's 2018-2020 Las Vegas Residency, because it aptly represents me: the butterfly has returned, from exile, that is.

Exile is a dream of a glorious return.

This phrase was famously uttered by the first Emperor of the French, Napoleon Bonaparte. Although he is, through my lens, one of the villains of modern European and world history, he was quite right about exile. It is a dream of a glorious return, and I have returned gloriously.

After a month and a half of silence, I have returned to blogging. It is something I've looked forward to since I announced my temporary retirement, due to cybersecurity concerns. Who knew that silencing myself and going into exile would be the least of my problems? The thing is, there were two concurrent exiles: the self-imposed blogging exile and... the other one.

Fear not, the details of that simultaneous exile will be shared in my memoir, which promises to be quite juicy. Who knew that during the 21(+2) years I have been on this Earth, I have accrued so many anecdotes and character building experiences enough to write a memoir? Although I will not be writing this memoir as of now, when I do sit down to start it, it will be quite the tear-jerker, and many of you will understand the meaning of... not Mariah Carey, but of another Songbird Supreme: little ol' me🙈

But enough about the memoir. Let's focus on the present. I am back to blogging, and all of you know I would not return with a technical piece per se, but spilling the details of my self-imposed blogging exile💋

Spilling the details of my self-imposed exile. It was an emotional rollercoaster. At first, I was stressed, overwhelmed and disappointed. Health scares were accompanied, as for the first three weeks of my exile, I had a rash all over my body, stress-induced, of course. Those three weeks were agony: I could not stop scratching myself, as if I were a dog with fleas.

After I was able to shake the rash, things went up-hill from there. I lived my best life. I was enjoying every minute of it! I took on more shifts with tía Sussy at Happy Dog Spaw, and I developed a grooming prowess, without paying tuition for the Grooming Academy! I also binge-watched shows I was dying to see, and when I finished off the list, I went on to watch some classics.

Ramen is the first Goldendoodle I ever groomed🐶

Enter Ms. Francine Joy Fine. I started binge-watching "The Nanny" (starring Fran Drescher and Charles Shaughnessy, 5th Baron Shaughnessy) on Amazon Prime. Let's just say, I've learned to speak a bit of yiddish, and I've developed a New York accent. Next stop: Flushing, Queens! And if you don't like my new Nanny-based personality, y'all can kiss my tchotchkes.

The flashy girl from Flushing, "The Nanny" named... FRAN!

But not all of my self-imposed exile consisted of watching telly all day. I also devoted more time to studying. I am now in the penultimate course of my Bachelor's in Global Management at San Diego Global Knowledge University, graduating in early February. I also went out with my friends, developed a few business ventures, some Halloween parties here and there, and a networking event at my alma mater.

I love attending this type of events. Shout out to the organizers of October's alumni networking at dear uni, it was all marvelous. But maybe next time we ditch the round table in favour of two hours of mingling? If I don't come out with business connections, maybe I can get myself a husband at one of these functions????

If I find a rich Jewish doctor at one of these things, I swear I'll take him to the courthouse ASAP! But that's my inner Fran Fine talking😂

So, after sharing all of my exile endeavors, what's next for this site and my career? Well, I'm back to blogging, I've cooked up new content preserving the style of writing that you know and love. I am so excited to be back, picking up where I left off, continuing this passion project that was born almost three years ago, amidst a global pandemic.

Thank you to everyone who expressed their concern about my temporary retirement from blogging. I assured you then that I would return, triumphant, in time for the end of the year, and I have kept that promise. More content will be on the way for you guys!🩵
