It's #BusySZN and accountants everywhere are preparing to tackle the heavy workload of income taxes and financial audits. That is, if you're in the field. If you're not, then lucky you. I want your job
I wouldn't be a good colleague or a friend if I didn't share with you my secrets to tackling busy season. But then again, it is the first of many for me, so I can't really share all my hacks, as I am yet to develop some to make my life easier between January 1 and March 31.
However, there are some other things I can share with you that will make your life easier, or your desk look more aesthetically pleasing.
I must confess I've become an Amazon addict. The simplicity that comes with purchasing goods online and having them delivered to one's doorstep is extremely convenient. Makes one feel like one might never need to leave one's home.
Today's post is all about me rating my recent "office purchases": sh*t I bought to make my life easier when working at the office or at home.
Disclaimer: I am not being paid to promote any of these products. I wish I was, tbh.
Logi Wireless Mouse
My mother thanks the Lord above because I don't keep her up until the small hours with the noise from the mouse clicks.
I recently bought this Logi wireless mouse, that has Bluetooth capabilities and a USB receiver. This meaning you are able to pair it via Bluetooth AND also use it on another device with the USB receiver. I myself use it only with the USB receiver for my work computer. But that's not the only thing I enjoy about this mouse.
It's the fact that the clicks are silent! You can't even tell I'm clicking on it! This is great if you work from home and don't live alone, or if you work at an office without cubicles (like mine), where you can hear the person next to you clicking away right in your ear. I am very click-intolerant: I cannot stand people clicking away like crazy, I cannot stand my own clicking, so this mouse is ideal for my click-intolerance.
cimetech Bluetooth Keyboard
Now this is the one I think I'm completely in love with.
This keyboard is not only not that noisy, but it can pair to up to THREE devices! Two via Bluetooth and one through USB receiver. The best part? It doesn't need batteries! You just need to plug it in and charge it every once in a while. I've had it for a couple of weeks, and so far, I've only used 15% of the battery in it!
This really came to complete my work from home set up, as I already had a laptop stand and a second display, to have more screen space. It was quite uncomfortable to type on the laptop keyboard while it was on the stand, but I muddled through those first few weeks, that is, until I got this bad boy!
Foldable laptop stand
If you ask me why did I get a foldable laptop stand if I already had one at home, the answer is: logistics. The stand I have at home is too heavy for my designer laptop bag. Father. Son. And House of Gucci.
I bought this foldable laptop stand to take with me to the office, so I could take advantage of the dual monitor set up we've got. I like seeing my screens side to side, and this little gadget helps me level up the laptop up to the second display. Its adjustable angle provides for an ergonomic set up for your desk, because that neck pain is real!
iPad / tablet stand
Now, this one was quite an unnecessary purchase from my part. My iPad case is a SmartFolio, so I can use the case as a stand on its own. But again, ergonomics. I wanted to set my iPad at eye level. As I said before, the neck pain is real.
Those who know me know that I use my iPad as a notebook, calendar, you name it. I went paperless back in 2022, so, the iPad is part of my set up and a vital part of keeping my sh*t in check.
The Lamicall iPad stand provides my sidekick with some support at a literal higher level. I don't set the iPad on the desk anymore, so the days of tilting my head down to read on it are over.
Surge protector / power strip
I would be careless to not have a surge protector, considering that my neighborhood has a lot of power surges.
Needless to say, when I got my second display back in December, I was hunting for a surge protector that was not that bulky, as I strive to make my workspace aesthetic. Luckily, Amazon had the solution for that. I found this amazing power strip that functions as a surge protector.
Bonus points for the 5 foot extension cord!
It's got six standard outlets, plus two USB ports and one USB C port, so you can plug in your charges without the brick, which suits me perfectly, because I have lots of appliances and not enough power bricks to plug them into the standard outlet.
Again, Amazon isn't paying me to promote these products, that's why I didn't provide any links. If you are interested in any of these, let's hope the screenshots are useful!
Hopefully next year I am able to provide some life-changing hacks to tackle #BusySZN
And may the odds be ever in your favour... 😂
